In the Heart Of A Champion posts, I will share a short but inspiring message about perseverance and resilience. We all need that from time to time on both our fitness journey and in life. Then I will shift gears and share a workout challenge that focuses on one of the most vital components of fitness: cardiovascular strength. Most workout circuits are designed with intervals of work and rest, allowing for recovery and preparation for the next set. However, in the heart of a champion, I’m going to challenge you to push through with less recovery time, maintaining a higher heart rate for an extended period—typically around six minutes. This circuit is less about isolated strength training and more about cultivating the strength of your heart, both physically and mentally. We’ll keep the intensity high, ensuring that your heart is working hard as we dive into exercises that mirror the relentless spirit of athletes in one of the most grueling sports—wrestling. Wrestling matches consist of three periods, each lasting two minutes, culminating in a total of six minutes of intense competition. It’s often said that the third period is where champions are made, as it is a true test of endurance, determination, and sheer willpower. This concept serves as a powerful metaphor for the challenges we face in life. Just as wrestlers dig deep in that final stretch, we too must harness our inner strength when confronted with stressful situations, tight deadlines, or moments that push us beyond our comfort zones.
